This family was a lot of fun to photograph as our parents have been friends for a long time. Not only that, but one of the first newborns I ever photographed was Mason’s big sister Pippa! She has grown up a lot since then and it’s hard to believe she’s two years old already. There is definitely a family resemblance between these two kids – neither one had much hair when they were born, although Pippa’s was much lighter in colour so you could hardly see it at all. Mason was such a good little sleeper for the first hour of his newborn session, and we also managed to get some nice open-eye shots of him at the end of the session with the rest of his family and in the photo of just him and his sister. Thanks to Jennica from Jennica Christine Photography for her help during this session!
The close-ups with the little back wrinkles are always my favourite shots! What an adorable little boy.
I love these pants from Ellie Bellie Design. She makes the best outfits and they always fit babies perfectly.
This position obviously required some Photoshop skills. I had Jennica hold Mason’s head in one shot, then hold his elbows in the second shot and I was able to merge them together to make one beautiful, but still safe, image.
His mom said that dark blue was “his colour” and I would have to agree!
Unlike most newborns, Mason didn’t even fight me when positioning his hands flat. He is one of the few babies I’ve ever photographed who doesn’t keep his fists clenched tight!
The whole family together!
And after a few unsuccessful attempts, we even managed to get a smile out of big sister Pippa! What a great way to end a newborn session.
